These Are The Best Boots … Maybe Ever?

WHAT: Vivaia Abby Pointed-Toe Knee-High Heel Boots

WHY: You know how you design an outfit in your mind as you’re in bed falling asleep?

It’s the outfit to end all outfits, and it will make you finally feel like yourself, your best self, and when you glance at your best self in reflections in store windows you’ll think, Christ that’s a well put together woman.

It’s the outfit we’ve put together in our minds that actually works this time, not the hundreds of other outfits we’ve put together in our minds and then, once we put it together in real life, it sort of looks … just ok.

And, to no one’s surprise, this outfit begins, and ends, with boots.

Boots are just special. Boots make us feel a little bit invincible. We can’t fully explain why, but they do. And we have bought countless boots in our day. Booties, cowboy, slouchy, over-the-knee, we’re talking many, many pairs of boots.

We often get in a jam because we love how a heeled, knee-high boot looks, but we do not love how a heeled, knee-high boot feels. And perhaps, you may have guessed, we are well past the age where we are willing to sacrifice pain for beauty. We used to forgo jackets in college in wind-whipped East Coast just to be sure our cute sweater and pert breasts were on full display. Uh. No more of that now. And that makes our quest for clothes and shoes and boots and coats that much harder—because we are also not willing to forgo chicness just because something is comfortable. No no. We’re not dead yet. We must look gorgeous and stylish and effortless every day. But also feel as though we’re basically as comfortable as we are in pajamas and shearling slippers.

And so, when we tell you we have found a boot that is so impeccably chic and so unbelievably comfortable, we can scarcely believe it ourselves. It feels like the culmination of a 30-year search and we might be close to tears?

Enough of this treacle. Let’s behold:

Simple. Elegant. Wide enough to not squish your calves. Seems like a basic enough boot, yes?

BUT IT IS NOT BASIC.

Let’s go over some of its features, shall we?

1. The entire thing stretches. Like the shoe part too. So stretchy, so insanely comfortable.

2. They’re fully water repellent. We’ve tried walking in them in the rain. We can verify.

3. Even though there’s a softly pointed toe, you don’t feel squished.

4. It has something called a “pressure relief” sole and in fact, it contains Artemisia Argyi (mugwort) which is known to minimize foot fatigue. Who knew?! (If you have allergies though, consult your doc.)

4. The 2 1/2 inch heel height feels like nothing. Is it the kitten heel placement? Perhaps.

5. We don’t know quite how to say this, but these boots feel like you could actually run in them. They’re just that flexible and comfortable.

When an outfit in your mind comes together in real life:

Yes. It’s simple. Very simple. But it’s also just so very chic. All black is always chic. So we all feel comfortable wearing it. Perfect for a holiday party. Or just a simple dinner. Oh, and the sweater is also the greatest sweater of all time and is full of stretch, so if you want to untuck the demi-tuck after a huge meal, it’s blissfully easy and still looks cute. And of course, the skirt is a must and pretty much looks good with everything in one’s closet.

The boot also comes in a shortie version which we love and wear with pants and skirts:

There’s also a block heel version of this boot if you can’t stomach even 2 inches of height (which we would entirely understand), and we are very, very seriously thinking about buying THIS pattern, because it’s charming and a great way to jzuhzj (sp?) up plain outfits with zero effort.

In conclusion, this boot changed our lives. It will change yours.
